The cool new things we saw at Workday Rising 2019

This year’s Workday Rising was held in the city of Milan. For me personally, it had been a decade since I last visited Milan, when I was working as HR manager at Prysmian group. So besides visiting Rising, this trip was also a reunion; meeting old and new friends. We were amazed by the cool stuff Workday announced or would be bringing live soon. Below you can find our 6 highlights of Workday Rising

1. End to end SG&A suite.

Once started as an HCM software company, Workday is now rapidly expanding beyond HR processes. The Finance suite has matured and we saw very promising announcements for the Procurement module. This will make Workday the software for CHROs, CPOs and CFOs in the near future.

2. People experience / Talent Market place

People experience will get a personalised UX, introducing a digital assistant and the use of machine learning to predict what people need. Or, as Workday states:

“This surfaces insights to a person at the right time, providing everything from guidance in career development and personalized content, to answers to HR and payroll questions via Workday’s digital assistant and HR case creation and management—for more complex requests.” More information here: Workday People Experience

3.     Plan to Execute

The new workforce planning tool, which uses adaptive insights, will change the budgeting process. Once budgets are approved, positions are created automatically. This will reduce administrative burden substantially and we know this will be much welcomed by most managers

4.     Look and Feel

The entire Workday suite will soon get a new look and feel. Workday – as always – is very strong in GUI and continues to enhance and update with a Facebook-like speed and style. This alone shows they are miles ahead of the competition.

5.     Org studio for reorganizations

Already announced last year, but now live. You can visually see what the impact of a reorganisation will be before you actually execute it. You can do analyses, run scenarios, etc. An excellent tool that will support HR and business in decision making.

6.     Workday credentials/ Wayto

A very new and exciting feature is Workday Credentials, built around blockchain technology. It allows Workday customers to insert skills and employment history right into Workday. And Workday now allows you to add credentials for licensing and certification agencies. The cool thing is that Workday will make the same technology available for anyone who is interested in it via WayTo. It makes job applications much more reliable and faster, because the hiring firm knows that the certificates in the resume are verified. More info: www.workday.com/credentials

Those were the highlights of Workday Rising 2019. It was wonderful to be part of this event, meeting old friends and making new ones. Special thanks to the great parties of PWC in the San Siro stadium and Alight.
