Workday 2026R1 Updates for Reporting, Security and Integrations

10 maart 2026
Joelle Boekhold

Workday Release R1 introduces a wide range of updates across modules. Rather than publishing a full release overview, this blog highlights a selection of R1 items reviewed and shared by Joelle, Senior Workday Consultant at SuccessDay.

Joelle works extensively with complex Workday environments and is certified in HCM Core, Advanced Reporting, Composite Reporting, Integration Core, Integration Studio and Prism. The updates below reflect the areas she reviewed as part of her R1 analysis, with a focus on reporting, security, integrations and employee self-service.

Reporting: More Control and Better Context

One of the Workday R1 updates reviewed is Report Prompt Control. This enhancement allows organisations to restrict which output values users can select per prompt in a report. By guiding users toward valid prompt combinations, it reduces the risk of empty reports or incorrect prompt combinations. This is particularly relevant for organisations with complex reporting structures, where incorrect prompt selections are a common source of reporting issues. Read more on Workday Community.

Another reporting-related update is the ability to include Composite Reports within Business Processes. Composite reports can now be embedded directly in a business process step, ensuring that assignees have immediate access to relevant, multi-source data without leaving the process. This supports more informed decision-making and reduces manual steps in HR and Finance workflows. Find more information is available on Workday Community.

Security: Enhanced Migrations with Object Transporter

Security configuration remains a sensitive area during tenant migrations. With Workday Release R1, security groups, permissions and related security objects can now be migrated using Object Transporter.

This removes previous limitations where only domains and functional areas could be included in configuration packages. The Object Transporter Supported Objects report also provides better insight into dependencies when migrating security-related objects. This update supports more controlled migrations and reduces manual effort and risk, particularly in complex or multi-tenant environments. More information is available on Workday Community.

Integrations and Automation: More Control over Orchestrations

Workday R1 introduces status-triggered condition rules for Orchestrations. Orchestrations can now be initiated automatically based on specific business process status changes, such as Canceled, Corrected, Denied or Rescinded.

Condition rules determine whether an orchestration should run, and the Orchestration Runtime Tracker now includes a Conditions Not Met status to improve visibility. This enhancement gives organisations more control over automated workflows and helps reduce unnecessary processing in the tenant. Read more on Workday Community.

Employee Experience: Self-Service in Microsoft Teams and Slack

Another R1 update reviewed is the Workday Self-Service Agent, available in Microsoft Teams and Slack. This enables employees and managers to complete Workday tasks and access policy information directly from their collaboration tools. The Workday Self-Service Agent replaces the existing Workday Assistant, which will be retired in September 2027. This feature requires configuration and the Universal Main Subscription Agreement.

More information is available on Workday Community.

The Workday Release R1 updates reviewed in this blog focus on improving control, usability and automation across reporting, security and integrations. While these changes may appear incremental, they address challenges commonly encountered in complex Workday environments.

Additional Workday R1 insights will be shared as other modules are reviewed by the respective consultants.
