These are the main take-aways from Workday Rising of Lucia Nieto

Technical Consultant Lucia Nieto went to Workday Rising EMEA in Barcelona on behalf of SuccessDay. What struck her? And what were the key learnings? In this blog, she talks about them. “It is incredible how many innovations have been announced and are still arriving in the short term. Workday continues to innovate and optimize itself and customers want to know more about it. In this way they can make the most of their HRIT system.”

Between 3,000 and 4,000 customers, specialists, partners and potential customers travelled to Barcelona from 14 to 16 November for Workday Rising, the annual EMEA event of HRIT vendor Workday. One of them was Lucia Nieto, working as Workday Technical Consultant at SuccessDay since February this year. Based in Madrid, she works for several SuccessDay customers in Europe, mainly in after go live support (AMS).

Going to Workday Rising as a reward

A week before Workday Rising, she and her colleague Silvia Calvo, who also lives in Spain, were told they were invited to attend Workday Rising on behalf of SuccessDay. As a reward, because the two had performed so well in recent months. “That is, of course, an incredible experience. I am very grateful that I was able to attend the event,” she reflects. It was the first time for her to join a Workday Rising event. Learn more about the learnings of her colleague Silvia during Workday Rising.

The event covers the latest trends and developments in technology, innovation, and HR, and allows knowledge and experience to be shared within the Workday community. Lucia: “Afterwards, my first reaction was: ‘Wow!’ You get really inspired and get completely up-to-date and the networking possibilities are extensive. There are various lectures, roundtables, and networking events. This year, there was also an extensive focus on the impact of AI on HCM systems. I did not know where to look first.”

Some of the trends seen during this Workday Rising refer to continue improving some of the tools already developed, but Workday announced many new features as well. Among them we see:

  • AI-Driven Insights
    Workday integrates AI to provide more advanced insights into workforce data. This includes predictive analytics for talent acquisition, employee retention and workforce planning;
  • Personalized learning and development
    AI can help create personalized learning paths for employees based on their individual skills, preferences, and career goals;
  • Employee engagement and sentiment analysis
    AI could also be used to analyze employee sentiment and engagement;
  • Diversity and inclusion analytics
    Workday can incorporate AI to help organizations measure and improve diversity and inclusion efforts by analyzing relevant data.

Into a greater depth

The Workday consultant met many new people during Workday Rising, but also got to know some of SuccessDay’s colleagues and customers even better. “I now have a much better idea of what everyone is working on and what is going to happen in the near future. During implementations there is always time pressure, now there was more opportunity to talk at ease and discuss topics in greater depth.”

Originally from Uruguay, Lucia moved to Spain several years ago. Lucia studied International Relations at Universidad de la Républica and then went to work as a Workday Consultant at Deloitte. When the lockdowns due to corona were over, she decided to move to Europe, as there were more career opportunities for her on this continent. “Uruguay is just one small country and is mainly focused on the US, while Workday is growing very fast in Europe.” Since her grandfather is Spanish and she also has that nationality, she chose to move to Spain. Before her move to SuccessDay, she worked as a Senior Business Operations Specialist at Klarna.

Pleasant way of working and culture

She was approached via a recruiter whether she wanted to sit down with SuccessDay to see what they could do for each other. She did not yet know the company by name, also because until recently SuccessDay’s focus was mainly on Benelux, the Nordics and DACH. “But when I looked into SuccessDay, their way of working and culture really appealed to me. You get a lot of responsibility, work for interesting clients and there is a good work-life balance. Moreover, learning and development comes first and working remotely is no problem at all.”

She has had a great time at SuccessDay so far. She travels to the Netherlands regularly, preferably for a somewhat longer period, so she can meet with clients and colleagues and attend training courses at the Eindhoven office at the same time. The Technical Consultant from SuccessDay is far from done learning when it comes to Workday. “I don’t see myself switching to another HRIT system anytime soon. Knowledge of other systems is of course present among my colleagues at SuccessDay, as we are platform-agnostic. I would like to expand my knowledge in the coming years towards other services around Workday besides AMS. For example, I am thinking of consultancy around Phase 0 or going back to the actual implementation, which I also really enjoyed. There are endless opportunities within SuccessDay!”

Lucia thinks it makes perfect sense for organizations not to lean back after implementing an HRIT system and to keep looking for improvements. Not only within Workday itself, but also when it comes to optimizing processes, data and integrations with other systems. “SuccessDay can support customers with this, so that they can get the most out of the system. Also, when it comes to after go live support and tenant optimization SuccessDay can partner with you.”
