SuccessAcademy boosts hard and soft skills of its in-house staff

SuccessDay is committed to continuous development of knowledge and skills of its own talent with SuccessAcademy. In this blog, Tom Wijers and Mathias Pauwels tell us all about the new Learning Management System (LMS). The aim is to improve both the hard—technological HRIT knowledge— and soft skills. New talent can then boost their career while existing talent is given the opportunity to continue to develop 24/7. The result? Higher professionalism that benefits our customers and employees.

As of April, SuccessAcademy, SuccessDay’s new internal training tool, has gone live. In recent months, Senior Business Consultant Tom Wijers and Managing Consultant Mathias Pauwels worked hard on the tool and will continue to develop the platform for professional and personal development in the coming time. Tom: “SuccessDay is growing fast. It is important that the experienced Advisory and AMS consultants transfer their knowledge and expertise within the organization to new talent. We want to give them a head start. We do this by teaching them, in a short time, the basics of the HRIT software we support, giving them important consultancy skills, and introducing them to the way of working that makes SuccessDay so successful.”

In addition, the company from the Brainport region wants to continue to challenge existing staff and offer great development opportunities. Mathias: “Colleagues can make unlimited choices from our ever-growing training portfolio, but also managers can make suggestions based on personal development goals.”

Advantage requires continuous growth

In addition to preserving existing knowledge, knowledge sharing increases the ability to innovate and leads to better decisions. In addition, it increases employee engagement and helps develop a strong corporate identity. Transferring and retaining knowledge is vital for the sustainability of an organization. Only with the right people and through continuous development of knowledge and skills can you stay ahead.

Previously at SuccessDay, this was mostly done via PowerPoint presentations, Excel sheets, and PDFs that could be found on the SharePoint server—or individually face-to-face. With the organization continually expanding, however, SuccessDay wants to structure this in a different way, to optimize the quality of the learning process and the knowledge itself.

It was decided to create an in-house Academy, for the training and development of both new and existing employees. Customized training courses are developed and delivered by SuccessDay’s own experienced consultants and IT specialists—but they also work with training partners. “Developing knowledge and skills in people takes time. That’s why SuccessAcademy also offers off-the-shelf training courses from training partners. We also want to add webinars, training videos and maybe even podcasts,” Tom explains enthusiastically.

Standard and tailor-made training courses

Standard training courses are primarily focused on personal development. This involves interactive online training in the areas of communication, commercial skills, collaboration, career development and management. This would include training such as learning to deal with resistance, healthy working from home, presentation techniques, time management, project management, effective communication, email management, practical leadership, or customer support.

The customized training courses, developed by SuccessDay specialists, include the various modules of an HRIT system, such as HCM Core, Talent Management, Recruitment, Compensation and Benefits. This not only involves teaching fundamental technical knowledge, but also delving into theoretical frameworks that are important within an HR organization. “In addition, it’s about teaching the skills necessary to be a good SuccessDay consultant. Tracks for juniors include how to give a good pitch or presentation. But we also offer tracks on SuccessDay’s own products and services, such as HCM Software & Vendor Selection, Quick Scan, Phase 0, and After Go-live Support. You can also find the Onboarding track for new employees in SuccessAcademy,” says Mathias.

The thrill of getting people on the right track

All senior professionals at SuccessDay are expected to be willing to share their knowledge. Accordingly, they independently create training courses in their area of expertise. Every two weeks there are training evenings where knowledge is being shared, online, on-site, or a combination of both. Typically, such trainings are 3 sessions of 2 hours each. Every quarter a new class is formed. Mathias recently gave the training on Workday Compensation. “It was really fun and rewarding. It really gives a thrill to help people get on the right track, so that they can have a good start with the customer—or with us, for example, in the AMS department. You don’t have to have all the hard knowledge about an HRIT system, but it is important that you have the basic knowledge of the front and back end of the system. This way you can optimally support the customer and help the implementation partner get started.”

Each session the students are asked to provide feedback. Tom: “We are constantly fine-tuning, and the content is constantly being updated. At the end of the year, for example, the self-created consultancy tracks will be added.” According to him, both the professionals, SuccessDay itself—as well as its clients—reap the benefits of SuccessAcademy. ” Broadening horizons, increasing the level of knowledge, raising the level of service; and increasing the likelihood that professionals will stay on board—because they can continue to develop. Everybody wins.”
