A Dive into the Future: Oracle Cloud World Tour London 2024

On March 14, 2024, our Oracle Practice Lead Jane Johnson paid a visit to the Oracle Cloud World Tour in London. A day full of new discoveries and insights. Throughout the day, Jane was able to develop an even better understanding of the future of technology, especially in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Oracle Cloud World is a grand annual event that takes place in the iconic Las Vegas. After this dazzling start, the tour goes on a world journey, with stops in Dubai, Tokyo, Mumbai, and London among others. During this event, customers share inspiring success stories, exciting announcements are made, and attendees can participate in engaging general sessions and workshops. Oracle 2024 unveils the latest innovations in cloud infrastructure, databases, and applications for various industries.

Movement at the Oracle Event 2024

The day began with an inspiring speech from Dough Kehring, EVP Corporate Operations, which immediately set the tone for a day full of innovation and learning. She had the opportunity to hear how customers like NatWest Group and Michelin shared their experiences with the practical application of Oracle Cloud solutions.

“But in general, it was all about Artificial Intelligence… with ChatGPT or VR devices now becoming quite common. I mean, that was what I was really interested in.”

With hundreds of sessions and thousands of visitors, it truly felt like you were embarking on a world tour. “So many sessions and experiences, it was almost overwhelming. And impossible to attend them all,” says Jane. However, she was fortunate enough to experience some highlights during the sessions she did attend:

  • Achieving Lasting Succes with Oracle AI in Fusion Applications

  • Women’s Networking Luncheon

  • Using AI to Build an Intelligent Cloud
  • Interview with The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

  • Microsoft on Multicloud with OCI and Azure

  • The future of Data, AI and Development

Achieving Lasting Succes with Oracle AI in Fusion Applications

Jane’s first session was “Achieving Lasting Success with Oracle AI in Fusion Applications.” This session featured various demonstrations that illustrated the practical applications of AI.

The AI Assist feature was particularly enlightening. It streamlines processes such as performance evaluations, enabling users to effortlessly compile employee feedback. With just a click of the AI Assist button, all necessary information is merged into the overall feedback form. “Okay, you still need to amend some of it, but overall, it’s fantastic. The sky is the limit.

Women’s Networking Luncheon

Then it was time for some quality time with the ladies! The Luncheon provided a refreshing break for networking and dining. However, the highlight for Jane was the engaging presentation by Bianca Miller on personal branding. “It was incredibly useful and enjoyable. Definitely a massive highlight and a great way to tank some energy for the next talks/session,” says Jane.

Using AI to Build an Intelligent Cloud

The session on Using AI to Build an ‘Intelligent Cloud’ kept Jane engaged throughout. Pradeep Vincent’s detailed explanation of setting up the cloud was particularly enlightening, offering valuable insights into the complexity of cloud infrastructure.

Interview with The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

During this session, Jane had the opportunity to listen to a brief interview with the English Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The discussion highlighted how Oracle and AI solved complex problems. For Jane, it was reassuring to see technology being used for impactful solutions.

Microsoft on Multicloud with OCI and Azure

Next up was Microsoft’s presentation on ‘Multicloud with OCI and Azure’. The collaboration between Oracle and Microsoft showcased the seamless integration of their services, promising convenience and efficiency for users across different platforms.

The future of Data, AI and Development

The day eventually concluded with “The Future of Data, AI, and App Development.” Insights from Oracle Vice-President Jenny Tsai-Smith on data and app development innovations left Jane inspired. The shift towards generating data systems instead of manually coding them promises an exciting future in technology.

All in all, the Oracle Cloud World Tour provided Jane with a treasure trove of knowledge and networking opportunities (and movement). Each session offered valuable insights, leaving her inspired and excited to explore the possibilities of emerging technologies. Amid all the knowledge and networking opportunities, Jane enjoyed reconnecting with former colleagues and making new connections. And of course, the many cappuccinos ensured Jane could energetically get through the day.
