Jan Pieter van Laar

Why are the HR Technology Awards personally relevant to you and why did you choose to be part of the jury?

The awards recognize and reward companies and teams that have contributed to the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the HR field. This fosters a culture of continuous improvement and promotes the development of new solutions to make HR processes more effective and efficient.

Furthermore, showcasing successful HR technologies and solutions can inspire other companies and professionals to take similar initiatives and generate new ideas. It can serve as a catalyst for change and progress in HR.

As a jury member, you have the opportunity to have a direct impact on HR technology. You help recognize and reward the most innovative and valuable solutions, contributing to the advancement and prominence of HR.

Evaluating various submissions also provides me with the opportunity to gain insights into the latest trends, technologies, and approaches in HR.

What do you expect these awards to contribute to innovation within HRM and better collaboration between HR teams and tech companies?

The HR Tech Awards can contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration within the HRM field, HR teams, and tech companies. They promote the development and adoption of advanced technologies, which can lead to a more efficient, effective, and integrated approach to HR processes in organizations.

As a jury member, what specific aspects will you focus on when evaluating the nominated projects or products?

One of the key criteria is the level of innovation that the project or product represents. This includes assessing how it stands out from existing solutions and how it applies new approaches or technologies to enhance HR processes.

Furthermore, I will evaluate the impact of the HR tech project or product on HR processes and the organization as a whole. I will look at how effectively the project or product has achieved its intended goals and what value it has added to the organization.

Also, a HR tech solution must be user-friendly for management, HR professionals, and employees. A winning project or product must be scalable to adapt to the growing needs of an organization. The ability of the HR tech project or product to seamlessly integrate with existing systems and other technologies within the organization.

The winning project should be capable of addressing future challenges and changes.

What do you personally consider the most inspiring example of innovation within HRM and tech companies, and why?

This year, we implemented Workday Peakon, and as far as I’m concerned, that also fits perfectly as an inspiring example of innovation within HRM and tech companies.
By utilizing advanced analytics and AI-driven insights, Peakon provides us with valuable insights to assist our HR teams and management in making strategic decisions regarding our human capital and creating a positive employee experience.
I could give many more positive reasons why I truly find Peakon an innovation and a game-changer; I really consider it an inspiring example of innovation within HR and tech companies.”
